Airbus A319CJ of Special Air Mission Wing of Federal Ministry of Defense Delivered for Cabin Outfit

Under the project “Modernization of Medium-Range Aircraft of Special Air Mission Wing, Federal Ministry of Defense (FMOD)”, the first Airbus A319CJ type aircraft was delivered by Airbus Deutschland GmbH to the main contractor Lufthansa Technik AG (LHT) in Hamburg-Finkenwerder on 13 May 2009.

WTD 71 and FWG merged on 1 February 2009

On 1 February 2009 the Bundeswehr Technical Center for Ships and Naval Weapons (WTD 71) and the Bundeswehr Institute for Underwater Sound and Geophysical Research (FWG) were merged as the “new” WTD 71. WTD 71 is now called “Bundeswehr Technical Center for Ships and Naval Weapons, Maritime Technology and Research”.

In-Service Support from one Source – Contract for Modernizing the Medium-Range Fleet Signed

On 19 December 2008, the Federal Office of Defense Technology and Procurement concluded a contract with Lufthansa Technik AG (LHT) on the in-service support for the new medium-range fleet of the Special Air Mission Wing of the Federal Ministry of Defense (FMOD).
