The Scientific Collection of Defense Engineering Specimens of the Federal Office of Defense Technology and Procurement (BWB)

The Scientific Collection of Defense Engineering Specimens – also called Defense Technology Museum – has an exhibition space of 7,200 sqm and is thus one of the large technically oriented collections in the Federal Republic of Germany. Founded in 1962, it is part of the organization of the Federal Office of Defense Technology and Procurement (BWB) and is situated in Koblenz, the main BWB location.

• Documentation of technological progress in the field of defense materiel
• Assistance in initial and extension training for engineers and technicians working in the defense sector
• Information of military personnel, civilian Bundeswehr employees and the general public
• Recruiting support
• Participation in the network of museums and collections within the Bundeswehr

Technical library

A military and historic technical library with 15,000 volumes as well as 60,000 technical manuals and equipment descriptions is available upon appointment to all those interested.

Opening hours

All year daily from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (closed on Carnival Monday and between 24 December and 1 January).

Admission fee

1.50 Euro (free admission for soldiers and federal defense administration personnel upon presentation of official ID).
