BWB under new Management
On 1 October 2008, Mr. Harald Stein assumed office as President of the Federal Office of Defense Technology and Procurement.
President Harald Stein was born in Elgert/Westerwald on 18 October 1952. After graduating from secondary school in 1971, he joined the Bundeswehr as a temporary-career volunteer for two years. After that he studied electrical engineering/communications engineering at the Technical University of Aachen.
President Harald Stein joined the Federal Defense Administration in April 1980 and passed the Second State Examination in May 1982. He then took up a position as Assistant Section Chief in the former BWB Division Communications Technology and Electronics. In 1989, his professional career took him to the MoD. He worked as Assistant Branch Chief in various areas of the Armaments Directorate and in the executive secretariat. From 1996 on, Harald Stein managed the office of State Secretary Simon, then from 1998 the office of State Secretary Dr. Stützle. In July 2000, he was appointed Executive Secretary of the Directorate General of Armaments, a position he held until 31 July 2004. Immediately afterwards, he was appointed Vice-President of the BWB.
Also on 1 October 2008, Mr. Reinhard Schütte became new Vice-President of the BWB.
Vice-President Reinhard Schütte was born in Letmathe/Sauerland on 4 July 1948. After graduating from secondary school, he served 18 months in the Air Force. He then studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of Bochum and at the Technical University of Aachen.
Vice-President Reinhard Schütte joined the Federal Defense Administration in 1975 and passed the Second State Examination in 1977. His first assignment brought him to the Naval Arsenal in Wilhelmshaven and Kiel as Assistant Section Chief and maintenance officer for large combat vessels. After an assignment as exchange engineer in the USA, he became Assistant Section Chief in the former Division Ships and Naval Weapons. In 1985 he changed to the MoD as Assistant Branch Chief and held different positions. For a short period, from 1994 to 1995, he returned to the BWB as Chief of Section SG III 2. Between 1995 and 2000, Reinhard Schütte was Chief of Branch Org 3/Internal Revision and Chief of Branch Rü I 1. On 1 October 2000, he was appointed Chief of the MoD Organization Staff.
