The Federal Office of Defense Technology and Procurement (BWB) placed three orders in Koblenz on 3 July 2008. In addition to the delivery of further protected vehicles in two variants based on the DINGO 2, Krauss-Maffei Wegmann has been contracted to supply remote-controlled weapon stations to the Bundeswehr.

The DINGO 2 order comprises 50 vehicles of the patrol and security variant.

The second variant is a battle damage repair and maintenance team type vehicle. This DINGO 2 variant will be implemented in pickup form. Four of these will be procured as pre-production vehicles in 2008, and another 44 production vehicles are held on option under the contract terms.

The DINGO 2 is a protected wheeled vehicle providing high mobility. DINGO type vehicles have proven successful in theater and have a high potential for protecting the life and limb of Bundeswehr forces on operations abroad. The vehicles now contracted will contribute considerably to improving the operational capability.

The third order includes the production and delivery of 230 light weapon stations and 190 heavy weapon stations. These weapon stations are intended to enable the Bundeswehr protected vehicle crews to defend themselves under protection. The light weapon stations will be armed with machine guns MG3 and MG4. The heavy weapon station may additionally be equipped with a caliber 12.7 machine gun or with a 40 mm automatic grenade launcher.
