Cooperation Agreement Concluded with European Business School
Oestrich-Winkel, 04/05/2007.
The service division Bundeswehr Strategic Purchasing at the Federal Office of Defense Technology and Procurement aims at modernizing the procurement of commercial products. This cooperation allows the office to share current knowledge from research and industrial practice.

The Federal Office of Defense Technology and Procurement (BWB) and the European Business School (EBS) agreed on cooperation in the area of public procurement in Oestrich-Winkel on 5 April 2007. Apart from building up a common network of experience this also involves mutual participation in conferences and having a case-study prepared by the Supply Management Institute (SMI) of the EBS on the subject "Strategic Purchasing". Another aim is to transfer the procedures of the private sector – by means of diploma theses and joint research projects – to the specific conditions of public procurement.
"I am very much looking forward to cooperating with the BWB" emphasized Professor Dr Christopher Jahns, EBS rector and SMI executive director. "It enables us to establish public procurement as a new area of research." He sees great potential in this area.
Siegfried Hoos, head of the BWB Service Division Bundeswehr Strategic Purchasing, attributes critical importance to the cooperation with the academia, especially with the SMI as renowned center of excellence. "The synergy between research and public procurement in a complex major organization permits mutual synergies and learning effects of an unprecedented dimension", said Hoos and showed his confidence in the agreed cooperation.
